MOTHERFU.....
This is how my morning went.
Oh. Oh, no...
Noooooo.......
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
That’s the Getrag 6 speed manual out of my 2004 MINI Cooper S, and, what I’m holding in my hand, my friends, is the mounting ear for the clutch slave cylinder.
It’s not supposed to do that.
I finally got around to replacing the clutch in my MINI this week, and it was going very, very smoothly until the transmission slipped off the jack as I was maneuvering it out from under the car, and landed square on the flange. It fell maybe 8 inches, but the angle was perfect.
My buddy the welder is on his way over to see what we can do.
BTW,

videos are great guides if you’re planning on changing the clutch on your own MINI -

Slave cylinders want to be free! Riding under the chassis with the filth, while the master cylinder sits nice and clean in the cabin. Well they’re not taking it anymore!

And now I wish that all my comments were replied to with Monty Python clips.

I had a friend who’s Miata had the rare ‘Dynamic Weight’ feature. He switched it to ‘0 kg’ despite Mazda warning him against doing so. A Veyron pulled up and they both mashed the throttle.
The good news is he beat the Veyron. The bad news is he broke the rules of phyiscs and traveled to an immesurable speed, forever. It turns out that you need mass if you want to slow down and now that he has none...well he’ll never stop.
Godspeed, Miata Man.

That really sucks. Hopefully you are able to fix it quickly and get back to enjoying the fun of a Mini.

Good luck getting that fixed. I loved my 05 S. Those getrags are awesome.

Well fuck. That don’t look right at all... pray for a strong and true weld.

Yeah - I’m a little nervous, cast aluminum is notoriously difficult to weld. My buddy suggested calling a pro, which I’ll do today. Fingers crossed.
